To help protect consumers and maintain confidence in Alberta’s real estate industry, the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA) is advising the public about Benedicto Pedida.
Mr. Pedida is not licensed with RECA and has been the subject of previous enforcement action for engaging in activities that require a licence under Alberta’s Real Estate Act.
RECA has received information suggesting that Mr. Pedida may be continuing to engage in activities that require a real estate licence. Given his history of administrative penalties for unlicensed trading, RECA considers this an ongoing consumer protection concern.
Mr. Pedida has previously been sanctioned by RECA for unlicensed trading activities, including:
- $10,000 administrative penalty issued April 10, 2025
- $25,000 administrative penalty issued February 19, 2026
These penalties total $35,000 for unlicensed activities.
Consumers should be aware that individuals providing real estate services in Alberta must hold the appropriate licence unless a specific exemption applies. Working with unlicensed individuals may expose consumers to unnecessary risk and leave them without the protections associated with regulated real estate professionals.
